Biography

Dr. Jan Samuel Maringka, S.H., M.H., CGCAE is a distinguished Indonesian legal expert and career prosecutor who has held several top-tier law enforcement and governmental positions. He most recently served as the Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia (2022–2023) and previously as the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence (JAMINTEL) at the Attorney General’s Office from 2017 to 2020.

Throughout a career spanning over three decades within the Indonesian prosecution service (Kejaksaan), Dr. Maringka has demonstrated exceptional leadership in law enforcement, institutional reform, and international law. His prominent earlier roles include serving as the Head of the High Prosecution Office (Kajati) in Maluku and South Sulawesi. He also possesses a strong background in international diplomacy, having served as the Legal Attaché at the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong (2005) and as the Chief of the Legal and International Relations Bureau at the Attorney General’s Office.

Known for his proactive and innovative approach to justice, he spearheaded national initiatives like the “Jaksa Menyapa” (Prosecutor Greetings) radio program to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public. He has handled numerous high-profile corruption cases and is a recognized expert in extradition law and transnational organized crime. During his tenure as Inspector General, he was also heavily involved in safeguarding national food security programs and supporting the development of agricultural education.
